Gonarezhou Park Zimbabwe
Gonarezhou, known as the “place of elephants”, plays host to over 10 000 of these gentle giants at one of the highest densities in any conservation area in Africa.
More than 920 plant species, 450 bird species, 90+ mammal species- including the big 5- and some of the most ruggedly spectacular landscapes in Southern African are found in the Park.
One of the key focuses of Gonarezhou is to ensure the local community benefits from being neighbours of the Park- thus, 75% of our staff come from the immediate vicinity of the Park. Your visit directly supports us in this endeavour!
The Park forms part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area- a mosaic of national parks, private conservation areas and community lands, forming a sub-regional network of protected wildlands.
