22 April 2015
Since 1970 Earth Day has been a day committed to spreading the word about how you can get involved. Officially observed on April 22, this year marks Earth Day’s 45th anniversary. A long history in suit is it possible to undo the already done? Most likely not, but why not resolve this year to doing just one thing for the planet, for our home, so that all the damage already done can be a lesson learned on the things we need to change. If you feel your busy life constitutes you unable to do something to impact, you’d be wrong.
At African Travels we aim to observe, on a daily basis, the need for sustainability in order for economic and environmental changes to commence. That is why Earth Day is the perfect day to spread the message of the importance of getting involved with making a change to our planet. That you can make a difference, great or small. African Travels sells mainly walking safari’s and overland trips. These types of trips are environmentally friendly and responsible, they cut down on the need for unnecessary vehicles, we try to prepare our travelllers by giving them suggestions on how to travel as environmentally friendly, we give you a WakaWaka solar charger for your phone etcentera. Additionally, we use only African local based partners to support the local communities. We shop local at the fruit and veg markets. In short: Africa leaves its mark on us, not us on Africa.
So today and everyday, why not decide on one small change that could have enormous impact on Mother Earth later on. The usual things you probably forget about each year but here are just a few reminders of more than a thousand things that will help.
The Climate Petition: Sign up! Join the largest climate petition to save the world. Tell local, national and international leaders to phase out carbon.
Support Environmental Education: Did you know that Congress is currently in the process of setting the federal budget for the fiscal year 2015? Tell Congress to include funding for environmental education.
Reduce Energy Consumption: Almost half of the greenhouse gas emissions in the US come from the energy we use to power our homes and our cars. Take the pledge to reduce your energy consumption today!
