Gonarezhou, known as the “place of elephants”, plays host to over 10 000 of these gentle giants at one of the highest densities in any conservation area in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. The Diversity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

More than 920 plant species, 450 bird species, 90+ mammal species- including the big 5- and some of the most ruggedly spectacular landscapes in Southern African are found in the Park. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the key focuses of Gonarezhou is to ensure the local community benefits from being neighbours of the Park- thus, 75% of our staff come from the immediate vicinity of the Park. Your visit directly supports us in this endeavour!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.Transboundary Conservation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Park forms part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area- a mosaic of national parks, private conservation areas and community lands, forming a sub-regional network of protected wildlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
