South Africa has moved back to level 3 lockdown regulations since midnight (16th of June 2021), following President Ramaphosa’s ‘family meeting’ yesterday.
Although a new curfew has been implemented from 10pm to 4am, travellers to and from the airport will not be affected.
The government gazette stipulates that although the new curfew is from 10pm to 4am, people who arrive on a flight or are travelling to or from an airport, will be allowed to do so during the restricted hours. They will however need to carry a valid boarding pass or a copy of the flight ticket.
The wearing of masks remains compulsory, even for vaccinated international travellers, and it is a criminal offence not to do so. Vaccinated international travellers still need to observe all COVID-19 health and safety protocols in public spaces.
