On holiday to South Africa with children? We think these are the best and most fun activities for kids in South Africa!

Table Mountain Cableway

Take a ride to the top of Table Mountain with the famous cable car. Kids love it, you feel as if you are on top of the world!

Go on Safari

South Africa is famous for its many wild parks. Take your kids on safari in one of the many places available such as Kruger, Addo, Madikwe, Sabi Sands or the Timbavati!

Eagle encounters

Eagle Encounters is based at the Spier wine farm in Stellenbosch and its focus is on rehabilitation and releasing birds of prey. They promote education and conservation and they offer to get up close and personal to these wonderful creatures.

Boulders Beach

Boulders Beach is not just famous for the penguin colony, but you can also swim and play and climb on the rocks and boulders. It’s a great place for a family outing.

Monkey Land

Monkeyland in Plettenberg Bay along the Garden Route is the world’s first free roaming multi-specie primate sanctuary. Its mission is to educate and foster greater understanding of our primate cousins and the threats and challenges they are facing.

Whale watching

Nothing is as exciting as getting on a boat on the look-out for the giants of the ocean; whales! There are multiple operators along the coast in South Africa that offer this opportunity. The ones we often recommend are in Hermanus, Knysna and St. Lucia. Just keep in mind that is a season-bound activity, normally between June and November every year.

Ziplining

This is a fun family adventure for people of all ages that can be done in multiple places all over South Africa. Let the adrenaline rush while you enjoy the views and excitement of flying through the tree tops and over gorges!

Meet ostriches face to face and learn more about ostrich farming! Visiting an ostrich farm is one of the most popular outdoor activities in Oudtshoorn for all ages. The tours offer interactions with the world’s largest bird, the ostrich, which lays the largest egg, has the most beautiful feathers and eyes that make you want to fall in love and hug them!

South Africa has about 2800 of coastline and is home to some of the most spectacular beaches in the world. From family beaches to surf spots to remote beaches, there is something for everyone!
