Trade route, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Kruger!

14 February 2018

‘When I (Dirk) was still a guide I had the privilege of doing the Trade Route LM22. Heading into Northern Zambia and Malawi was a first and all I can say is Wow! What an experience!! William completed one of these awesome tours and had the following to write.. This is I would say was one of the great tours that Sunway Safaris offers and one that you would love to do again and again…

Starting in Livingstone Zambia at the mighty Victoria Falls you head north East to the Lower Zambezi National Park. We overnight on the banks of the Kafue River for a night we get ourselves ready for the following 2 days on the mighty Zambezi River in canoes.

After time on the river we head north via Lusaka to another mighty river being the Luangwa River. You overnight here for one evening and then head further North following the Great East Road to the world renowned South Luangwa National Park. This park is rated as one of the top wildlife parks in the world and boasts large numbers of Leopard.

After game walks and game drives in the park and bordering concession we leave Zambia for the friendly country of Malawi and 2 evenings on the shore of Lake Malawi. A full day is spent going by boat with locals out to an island to do some snorkelling and relaxation on the lake. Malawi is the warm heart of African continent and a great opportunity for cultural interacting with the locals, visiting the local markets, clients had to bargain over different prices they were given which makes it a fun part of our visit.

Time for Mozambique and its beautiful coast line & islands. Staying in Vilankulos we have the opportunity to take a Dhow out to one of the small islands to snorkel, swim and have a braai on the beach returning to main land in the late afternoon.

Heading South we stay in Inhambane and Baleen for 3 nights before heading into South Africa for the last 3 nights. We enter South Africa through the Kruger national park. It was truly breath taking with amazing sighting in the Kruger Park where we managed to spot three out of the mighty Big five Buffalo, Elephant and Leopard. The leopard was the group’s highlights as none of them have ever seen this animal before in the wild.

All in all this tour was a great success for both guides and clients. I can’t wait to head back to Zambia again to start another Trade Route.’
