Volunteer at SAMREC penguin rescue center

Crazy about penguins? Get involved and volunteer at SAMREC, Port Elizabeth’s marine bird rehabilitation and education centre situated in the Cape Recife Nature Reserve. You will stay at a volunteerhouse with walking distance from the beach, stunning views and a pool. You will be working hands on with penguins and other marine birds, offering educational tours to visitors, feeding and cleaning the penguins, assisting with releases and general tasks relating to the center.

Volunteer with penguins; help protecting and saving the environment; learn about the marine wildlife; experience South African live from up close; meet other volunteers from all over the world; The opportunity to learn and work closely with the endangered African Penguin and other marine birds while working with a team of South African hardworking and motivated staff. You will have daily contact with the animals and assist in rescues and releases.
