If I could be anywhere in South Africa right now, I would probably opt for the bush. Being in nature amongst animals has always been my special place, where I can completely relax and get in touch with nature. These days there are so many amazing lodges available throughout the country, which makes choosing one quite a challenge. But… I must admit that one of my favourite places is Makweti Safari Lodge. This exclusive small lodge is situated in Welgevonden Private Game Reserve, a malaria-free reserve about 2,5 hours outside of Johannesburg. It has everything you need; luxury accommodation, the Big 5, amazing food, privacy, your own splash pool if you want, lovely views and it is close enough to Johannesburg to be able to drive it easily. There are only 10 guests allowed, which definitely adds to its charm! There is also the option to rent the camp out exclusively, perhaps an idea for my 50th next year ?
