This self drive takes you past some of the most magnificent highlights in the Northern part of South Africa. Via the Panorama Route and Kruger, you cross into friendly Swaziland. Continue via the Kwazulu Natal North Coast and spend some time in the majestic Drakensberg before traveling back to Johannesburg.

Arrive in Johannesburg, pick up your rental car and drive down towards Sabie. If time allows it, you can some of the highlights along the beautiful Panorama route.
Optional: you can fly into Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport and start your Kruger adventure from there!
After breakfast you drive to Baluleni Safari Lodge in time for lunch which is served around 13h00. Relax by the pool in the afternoon and late afternoon you will go on a game drive in Balule Game Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger Park.
It’s an early start, as today you will go on a full day safari in an open game drive vehicle in the Kruger Park. Lunch will be packed and can be eaten while in the park.
After a last game drive and breakfast, it’s time to travel back south. You could opt to drive through the Kruger Park while searching for the Big 5! Alternatively finish visiting the various interesting spots along the Panorama Route you haven’t had a chance to visit yet.
Today you will cross the border into Swaziland. . You will see that Swaziland has a completely different vibe to South-Africa and the people are extremely kind and friendly.
Candle factories, craft markets, nature reserves, no need to get bored here!
Travel south-east and cross the border back into South Africa. Your next stop is Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park. Enjoy the park and search for the Big 5. This park is very accessible for your rented car. However, you can also book open game drives via the lodge.
St. Lucia is a cozy little town, situated on the largest inland estuary in the country, which is home to many crocs and hippos. Go on a sundowner cruise, visit the nearby IsiMangaliso Nature Reserve or go for a swim in the beautiful Indian Ocean. St. Lucia is home to one of the most magnificent beaches!
From St. Lucia you travel further down to Umhlanga, a friendly coastal town. A perfect stop-over on your way to the Drakensberg.
Time for a change of scenery. You will visit the majestic Drakensberg Mountains. Take a hike, enjoy the stunning scenery and marvel at the uniqueness of this beautiful part of the country.
Check out after breakfast and travel back to Johannesburg Airport, where you hand in your rental vehicle in time for your flight back home.
