Hwange National Park

Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s biggest reserve, home to a profusion of wildlife, including giraffe, lion, zebra and approximately 40 000 elephants. It provides sanctuary for all the country’s endangered species, including a population of wild dogs thought to be among the most sizeable surviving groups on the continent.

Terrain ranges from desert dunes and savannah lands to rocky outcrops and sparse forests, and visitors have the choice of game drives, guided walks or horseback safaris as a means of experiencing the park and its creatures.

Best time to visit Hwange National Park

Zimbabwe, like its neighbours Zambia and Botswana has a very similar climate with the rainy season running from November through to mid April. The cooler winter months are drier. 

April up to October is the best time to visit Hwange National Park – Wildlife viewing in the dry season is better since the waterhole becomes a place where animals gather.

Wildlife

The largest national park of them all, this special place has many animals, including wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, elephant, giraffe, hippo, rhino, lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena and wild dog. Rarer animals such as aardvark, porcupine, serval and pangolin are also spotted occasionally.
