Mobile Camping Safari

“Mobile safari” means that you are going to embark on a guided journey, traveling by road, to explore a variety of places. Traveling with the same hosts the entire time, your experience and knowledge of the destinations will grow exponentially as days go by.

Local Payment

Some mobile camping safaris require a Local Payment. The local payment is a separate payment from the initial price you pay before you leave. If a local payment is required it will be shown with the trip price. This second payment is made in Africa at the start of your trip. It is payable in USD.

The local Payment provides the tour leader with the means for expenses that need to be paid in cash to local businesses en route to be arranged in the most cost effective manner possible, a saving we can then pass on to you. It also means we can operate in a way that directly supports local businesses and wildlife authorities as we travel.

Local Payment will not be changed once you have booked your travel arrangements.

Tents

Dome tents with integrated mosquito nets

Tents are three person dome tents. To ensure a good amount of space only two people sleep in each tent

The tents are made from rip-stop canvas and have a sewn in ground sheet

Mostly provided with a large separate fly sheet to give you extra protection in heavy rain

Stretcher beds and mostly ensuite bush toilets, depending on level of luxury

Mobile safaris, and more specifically camping mobile safaris, are undoubtedly the most traditional way of exploring Africa. Traveling in a small group, on a 4×4, moving camps as you proceed across remote regions, sleeping under a dome canvas tent in wild areas left entirely untouched, with no infrastructures or facilities. And unprecedentedly welcoming hosts calling these mind-blowing destinations “home”, taking you by the hand, sharing their knowledge and their culture, until you can almost feel that you’ve touched the heart of Africa.

SEMI-PARTICIPATION CAMPING

For the Semi-participation safaris, guests are only required to set up and pack their tents and help out getting their luggage in and out the trailers. All cooking, cleaning and any other camp chores are taken care of by the team made up of one guide, one camp assistant, and on selected departures one interpreter.

FULLY SERVICED CAMPING

The Fully Serviced is a camping safari that does not require any participation from guests. All camp set-up and camp chores are carried out by our teams. There is one guide (and on selected departures an interpreter) with the guests at all times and a backup team (camp assistants/chefs) in a backup vehicle setting up and breaking camps, cooking meals, etc. Tents are more spacious than on the semi participation camping safaris and feature extra conveniences. Groups are smaller for even more comfort and personalised service and attention.
