Comfort and service in the wild
African Travels takes the view that your accommodations are just as important as the safari itself. That is why we make sure that the accommodation we book for you is of excellent standard. Virtually all accommodations are built according to the same principle, in a central location, with a partly open restaurant surrounded by a varying number of guest rooms sleeping two or more people. Each room has its own bathroom facilities. What they all share in common is the incomparable, unique safari atmosphere. The rooms are decorated with natural materials and colours, with romantic mosquito nets draped over large beds with soft and comfortable duvets and lovely crisp linens. Imagine watching the sun set over the breathtaking landscape, or chatting by the fire al fresco, under the stars. These memories will last you a lifetime. At night, you will sleep like a baby, and if you don’t, you can listen to the orchestra of the wilderness. Can you hear the elephants, the lions or the hyenas? Dinner and breakfast offer a wide choice of African and western dishes, usually served as a buffet. More and more accommodations feature swimming pools.

Welcome in Tanzania!
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and be greeted by our guide. Drive to Osiligilai Lodge in Arusha for the dinner and overnight.
Arusha is a city in northern Tanzania and the capital of the Arusha Region, with a population of 416,442 plus 323,198 in the surrounding Arusha District Located below Mount Meru on the eastern edge of the eastern branch of the Great Rift Valley, Arusha has a temperate climate. The city is close to the Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Lake Manyara National Park, Olduvai Gorge, Tarangire National Park, Mount Kilimanjaro, and Arusha National Park on Mount Meru.
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up and drive you to Tarangire National Park for the day game drive with your picnic lunch boxes en route. In the evening, drive to lake burunge Camp for the dinner and overnight. The park is located slightly off the main safari route. Tarangire National Park is a lovely quiet park in Northern Tanzania that is most famous for its elephant migration, birding and quiet and authentic safari atmosphere. The majority of travellers to the region either miss out on Tarangire altogether or venture into the park for a matter of hours leaving parts of Tarangire virtually untouched.
After breakfast, proceed for a walking safari with an armed ranger. Later depart for a game drive till evening. This place is characterized by the large herds of elephants, tree-climbing lions, and the fascinating baobab trees also called the Tree of Life for its almost mythical powers that some cultures attach to it. This park is especially known for the Tarangire River which flows all year round and the only source of water for wild animals during dry seasons. In the evening, back to the camp for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, depart and drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive and proceed to the lodge for lunch. Afterwards, proceed to an evening game drive.
The park derives its name from the Maasai word “manyara”, which is the name for the plant Euphorbia Tirucalli. The Maasai use this plant to grow livestock stockades
After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Explore the Ngorongoro crater rim by walking. Drive back to the lodge for lunch. Afternoon at leisure, enjoy the views from the pool.
Optional village walk, Tuk Tuk ride through the village, nature walks, mountainbiking available.
After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro for the game drive in Ngorongoro Crater and in the afternoon, drive to Serengeti National Park.
The jewel in Ngorongoro’s crown is a deep, volcanic crater, the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world. About 20kms across, 600 meters deep and 300 sq kms in area, the
Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually be seen here.
After a good breakfast at the lodge, proceed to a full day game drive in Seronera, the central part of Serengeti with a hot meal for lunch. In the evening, drive back to the camp for dinner and overnight. Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park, also a world heritage site and recently proclaimed a 7th worldwide wonder, the Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Yet even when the migration is quiet, the
Serengeti offers arguably the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle.
We will spend three nights (two full days) in Serengeti National Park. Serengeti National Park gets its name from the Maasai word. Siringitu meaning endless Plain. The game drives in this park are exceptional and game viewing incredible. This park offers the best opportunity of viewing Cheetah, Leopards and Lions and when lucky the annual Great Migration!
Wake up early for a morning game drive before sunrise with your packed breakfast and then drive back to the camp for a hot lunch. Enjoy the afternoon by relaxing. Later in the afternoon, resume your game drive and then back to the lodge/camp for dinner and overnight.
A million wildebeest… each one driven by the same ancient rhythm, fulfilling its instinctive role in the inescapable cycle of life: a frenzied three-week bout of territorial conquests and mating; survival of the fittest as 40km (25 miles) long columns plunge through crocodile-infested waters on the annual exodus north; replenishing the species in a brief population explosion that produces more than 8,000 calves daily before the 1,000 km (600 miles) pilgrimage begins again.
After breakfast and your morning game drive in Serengeti, transfer to Seronera airstrip for your flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival, you’ll be met and greeted by your guide and then transfer to the hotel in Stone Town for a dinner and overnight.
After your breakfast at the hotel, your guide will take you to Stone Town for a tour and in the afternoon, transfer you to Z Hotel for the dinner and overnight.
We have developed a special Spice Tour with in-depth information not only about spices but also organically grown herbs and a detailed description of their traditional uses in medicine, cosmetics and cooking. After the tour, your guide will invite you for an opulent lunch at his home, where you can taste the spices and fruits.
After lunch, he’ll take you to your beach resort.
The next couple of days are to relax or you may opt for a Jozani Forest Tour.
Jozani Forest, the last habitat of the rare endemic Red Colobus Monkey. With a local guide, you stroll through Jozani Chwaka National Park and look at the rare monkeys. If you wish you can even wander down the boardwalk to the fascinating Mangrove Ecosystem.
Right on the northernmost part of the island, the beach that surrounds this area is truly stunning. Azure waters and white sands are what awaits those that come here. The only drawback really is that many of the hotels have had to perch on the coral cliffs that run north from the village and, as such, lose their beaches at high tide.
Generally, however, this is not a problem and, with the small backpacker community in the village, this is a great place to head if you like to get out of the hotel for a drink or two.
After breakfast at the hotel, depending on your flight schedule, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
