Upon arrival at Maun International Airport, you will be greeted by your safari guide and transferred to the mokoro station for an authentic overnight experience in the Okavango Delta. Travel deep into this UNESCO World Heritage Site on a Mokoro (dugout canoe), skillfully poled by local guides through winding channels lined with towering papyrus and water lilies. Along the way, keep an eye out for elephants wading in the shallows, sitatunga antelopes, and a variety of colourful birdlife, including kingfishers and African jacanas. After a relaxing journey, arrive at a secluded island where you will set up camp for the night.
In the late afternoon, embark on a guided bush walk to track wildlife on foot, spotting zebras, red lechwes, and maybe even a lion in the distance. As the sun sets, return to camp for dinner by the fire, with the sounds of the Delta’s nocturnal life providing the perfect backdrop for your first night in the wild.
Activities included:
Cruise to Chief’s Island
Afternoon gamewalk
Wake up to the peaceful sounds of the Delta and enjoy a leisurely breakfast before returning to the mokoro station. From there, you will travel by vehicle to Moremi Game Reserve, the first wildlife reserve in Africa to be established by local communities. Moremi is home to a spectacular array of wildlife, including large herds of elephants, buffalo, and leopards hiding in the mopane woodlands. Upon arrival, settle into your private campsite and head out for an afternoon game drive, exploring the floodplains and riverbanks where hippos and crocodiles bask in the sun. Keep an eye out for wild dogs, one of Moremi’s most famous residents. As the day ends, return to camp for a delicious dinner and a night under the starlit African sky.
