Itinerary

Day 1Lusaka

Welcome to Africa! Today you land at Lusaka Airport. On arrival, our representative will be waiting for you and take you to the 4×4 rental car depot. Collect it and drive to the lodge where you can relax and recover from your flight.

Day 2Livingstone

After a leisurely breakfast you start your adventure. Mama Rula’s B&B and Campsite is situated 6 km out of Chipata on the Mfuwe Road and is the ideal stopover between Lusaka and South Luangwa. The large campsite has lush green lawns under large African mahogany trees and excellent ablution facilities. They do cater for overlanders but private campers can camp separately from the big groups. Facilities include a swimming pool and bar. T

Day 3 - 5South Luangwa National Park

Today is a relatively short drive to your next destination, at the border of South Luangwa National Park. Each camp spot has a braai (bbq), picnic table, light, electric point, tap with cold running water. There are male / female ablution blocks nearby with hot and cold running water. Located on the river, you can spot the crocodiles and hippos from the centrally located swimming pool!

Enjoy the next few days by exploring the amazing South Luangwa National Park. There are over 60 different animal species and over 400 bird species. The Luangwa River has the highest concentration of hippos and crocodiles in the region, and the South Luangwa National Park is known as one of the best places to spot the elusive leopard. You can drive yourself, or book a guided safari.

Day 6Chimemwe Lodge

Today you travel further, this time towards Chimwemwe lodge. It’s about 300 km. Accommodation is in a twin chalet, a welcome change from camping in the past few days! The lawns are lush and green and the local restaurant has lovely meals that are decently priced.

Day 7Lusaka

Today you will spend the night in Eureka camping Park, situated on a private gam farm just outside Lusaka. There are many shady camping sports available here.

Day 8, 9, 10Kiambi Safari Lodge

Today you will travel to the Lower Zambezi, to the lovely Kiambi Safari Lodge. The lodge sits on the banks of the Zambezi River in Kafue of Lower Zambezi. The deck offers great views, it’s lush and green! Activities range from Game drives in the Lower Zambezi National park to boat cruises on the Zambezi river, which makes for an unforgettable experience!

Day 11, 12, 13Kafue National Park

Check out at Kiambi, and travel onwards to your next destination. Mayukuyuku Camp is one of those places that just feels right. It has just the right mix of rustic charm, fabulous hospitality and exclusivity to make a stay here really special.

The camp is located on the southern edge of the Northern Sector of Kafue NP, just 8km from the Mongu road, giving it year round access. Situated close to the banks of the Kafue River, alongside a lightly wooded treeline, Mayukuyuku has magnificent views, both up and downstream. The large shady trees and the river’s boulders and rock formations make relaxing days all the more enjoyable (especially with sundowners in hand!), but the area is rich in wildlife, so game viewing is a major attraction.

Day 14Lusaka

Travel back to Lusaka for a last night in Zambia.

Day 15End of Itinerary

After a leisurely breakfast you drive to the car depot where you return the 4×4 rental car and you will be transferred to the airport, in time for the flight home.
