Itinerary

Day 1-2Arrival Livingstone

Welcome in Zambia! Upon arrival you will be met by our driver to take you to the lodge for a first night sleep. The next day you have time to explore the Victoria Falls or relax and acclimatize after your long flight.

Dag 3-4Lochinvar National Park

Today your self drive journey starts. Pickup rental car and drive towards the Moorings, a birding paradise.
On the farm there are lots of scenic walks and opportunities to see wild life:
From December to May/June the farm plants, maintains and harvests maize and soya beans; every Tuesday visitors can watch and learn about cattle dipping (to control the spread of disease).
Beyond the fields, there are pastures and woodlands (acacia / combretum / terminalia woodland, including ancient Acacia Albida) which offer opportunities to see local plant species and wildlife – particularly birds.
A small historical site, about a 40-minute walk from the campsite, includes the house foundations and graves of the children of workers who maintained the railway (from the Cape to Cairo railway) in the 1930′s.
An hour long walk through cattle grazing pastures takes you to a small dam on the Magoye river, which makes the south east boundary of the farm.
Walks through the farm employees’ compound offers a glimpse of African village life.
The Moorings Campsite is also the closest campsite to the world famous Lochinvar National Park. The park is a sanctuary for migrant birds, and is home to the Kafue Lechwe (antelope), which are unique to the area. Lochinvar is 61 km from the campsite, over a dirt road. See www.zambiatourism.com for more details about Lochinvar under Game Parks

Day 5-7Lower Zambezi National Park

At Mvuu we live close to nature. The Lodge is situated in a secluded location deep within the game-rich Chiawa area, next to the Zambezi National Park and opposite the world heritage site of Mana Pools. Indigenous bush surrounds the lodge, wildlife roam freely through the camp and the unspoilt and abundant river offers phenomenal game fishing where trophy and catch and release Tiger Fish are our specialty.

Enjoy exploring Lower Zambezi National Park by car and at least one river trip on the Lower Zambezi.

Day 8Lusaka

Drive back to Lusaka for a stop over, maybe do some shopping in the big malls for the next couple of days.

Day 9-11 Kafue National Park

Time for another thrilling safari. Explore Kafue National Park.

The location is stunning with views across the river to a palm-covered island as well as up and downstream with resident pods of hippos wallowing in the river. Elephants can be seen crossing from the island to the mainland later in the dry season.

There’s a great diversity of bird and animal species in the Kafue National Park, more than anywhere else in Africa. Feedback from guests is that the central Kafue National Park is one of the most pristine, unspoilt and beautiful bush areas they have enjoyed and they love having it almost to themselves.

Day 12-13Kafue National Park

Musungwa Lodge invites you to explore the un spoilt and truly wild Kafue National Park(22 500km2) with us. Musungwa is set high on the shores of Lake Itezhi-tezhi (370 sq km) with a breathtaking view. Musungwa is open all year round and is accessible by road from Lusaka (338km) and from Livingstone via Kalomo (320 km). Musungwa is 1km from Musa Gate the main entrance to the southern sector of the Kafue National Park.

Meals can be booked at the lodge or use the self catering facilities.

Day 14-15Livingstone
