This self drive allows you to visit most highlights of the Southern part of beautiful South Africa. The trip starts and ends in Cape Town. Travel along the magnificent Garden Route to Addo Elephant Park. The way back to Cape Town leads you via the KleinKaroo and Cape Winelands. A beautiful round trip which will show you many different aspects of this superb country

Travel at your own pace
We will book a rental car suitable to your party and wishes. The advantage of having your own transport is that you decide how far and long you will travel each day, where you stop and for how long. We will provide you with directions and additional tips and tricks.

Welcome to South Africa! Upon arrival you will be met at the airport and transferred to your accommodation.
The next morning it is a short taxi drive to the car rental company in the centre of Cape Town. Spend the next few days exploring this magnificent city at your own pace!
Visit Table Mountain, Robben Island and Cape Point. But there are also many other less known attractions you might encounter that are absolutely worth visiting!
Hermanus is a pretty coastal town, well know for the annual visit of the Southern Right whales, who visit this bay her to give birth to their calves. Hermanus is one of the best places in the world for land-based whale-watching.
Hermanus also has its own wine route, the Hemel & Aarde Valley. There are close to 20 wine farms, where you can taste wines and enjoy good food! Grotto Beach is perfect for long walks and Hermanus has multiple restaurants that serve amazing sea food!

Continue your journey, next stop is the Garden Route Game Reserve, you will spend the night here and enjoy an afternoon- and morning game drive.
Knysna is situation along the Garden Route and is famous for its stunning lagoon. There is plenty to do here; rent an e-bike, do a whale watching or eco boat tour on the ocean, walk in the stunning Tsitsikamma Forest or shop until you drop at the Knysna Waterfront. All in all Knysna is a lovely place to spend a few days and enjoy the surroundings!
St. Francis Bay is a cosy coastal town, with many small canals in between the house and a harbour called Port St. Francis. The architecture of the village is very unique. The town consists partly of black&white houses which are linked through small canals and surrounded by the ocean. Another part of the town has a bit more Mediterrean look with expansive living areas in earthy colours. In the harbour of St. Francis Bay are many little shops and restaurants.
Explore the Big 5 in Addo Elephant Park and be on the lookout for the big 5! You can also book a guided game drive at reception. There is a restaurant and shop available at the main camp where you can get supplies or a meal.
Slowly start your journey back towards Cape Town. Next stop is Oudtshoorn. If the Swartberg is open, you could choose to drive across and visit Prince Albert.
There is also the option to visit the famous Cango Caves, or visit an ostrich farm, for which this area is very well known.
Accommodation for the night is in true glamping style! You stay in a lovely, comfortable safari tent on a working farm just outside town. The tent is fully equipped and air-conditioning is available for the warmer months.
Travel via the breath-taking R62 to Montagu. The guesthouse has an amazing restaurant and the owners make their own wine. We will gladly assist with making a booking if required.
Continue along the magnificent R62 towards the Cape winelands. Don’t forget to stop here and there at one of the “pad stalle”, to taste some local delicacies
Stellenbosch is situated in the heart of the winelands. It is a cosy university town, with many wineries (over 200) where you can taste wines and eat lovely food! Most of them will welcome you without an appointment. Stroll through the oak-lined lanes of the beautiful town centre and enjoy the stunning surroundings
Today marks the end of your South Africa adventure. Hopefully you have made enough memories to last you a lifetime! It is time to go home. Travel to the airport, where you hand in your rental vehicle (with a full tank), in time for your flight back home.
