This African camping group adventure tour starts in Nairobi and finishes in Dar es Salaam. Game drives in the Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater with time to also enjoy special highlights in Nairobi – Sheldrick’s Elephant Sanctuary, The Giraffe Park and a fun night out in one of Nairobi’s famous restaurants. As well as a cycling safari in Hells Gate and a hippo cruise on Lake Naivasha. Finishing on the palm-fringed white beaches of Zanzibar Island

Accommodation

Tents and roll mattresses are provided and the tents have sewn in floors and mosquito netting. You will need to bring a sleeping bag & sleep sheet. Get a cheap mosquito net in Africa if you want to sleep outside of your tent. If you start your trip in Nairobi or South Africa you can buy camping gear at the local department stores. All campsites have good ablution facilities & bars, and some have restaurants, shops and internet facilities. About half the campsites have upgrades to hut or cabins for an extra charge.

Restrictions

Minimum age is 18. Average age of the passengers is between 18 – 39 but if you are an open minded person more at age and you don’t mind climbing daily in and out the overland truck you are more than welcome to join!

Extras/Upgrades

A multi day safari to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater is an optional extra and NOT included in the price. Please check the Tour Information for a list of optional extras.

This safari departs from the Heron Hotel, Milimani Road, Nairobi at 8.00 am on the departure date and from Wildebeest Eco Camp at 08.45 AM

Local Tour Payment: US$360. The local payment is a separate payment from the initial price you pay before you leave. If a local payment is required it will be shown with the trip price. This second payment is made in Africa at the start of your trip. It is payable in USD. The local payment provides us with the means for expenses that need to be paid in cash to local businesses en route to be arranged in the most cost effective manner possible, a saving we can then pass on to you. It also means we can operate in a way that directly supports local businesses and wildlife authorities as we travel. Local Payment will not be changed once you have booked your travel arrangements. Itinerary

Day 1-2KENYA

Meet up and head to the Rift Valley, then Lake Nakuru National Park for game drives and a visit to children’s orphanage.

Day 3-5KENYA

Lake Naivasha, hippo cruise, Masai stay at Loita Hills
Optionals: Hells Gate National Park or Crater Lake Sanctuary, Elsamere for afternoon tea.

Day 6-9KENYA

Masai Mara, game drives. Return to Nairobi.
Optionals: Maasai village visit, balloon safari, Giraffe centre, Sheldricks elephant orphanage

Day 10TANZANIA

Travel across the Athi Plains through to Arusha.

Day 11-13TANZANIA

Free time to allow for an optional safari into the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Evening celebratory barbecue on return from the game parks.
Optionals: Afternoon and morning game drives in the Serengeti National Park, afternoon drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation area, morning game drives in Ngorongoro Crater.

Day 14-16TANZANIA

Arusha, Marangu by the foot of Kilimanjaro. Seafood barbecue at our camp by the Indian Ocean and preparations for the stay on Zanzibar Island.
Optionals: day hike Kilimanjaro, village tour

Day 17-20TANZANIA

Free time for a 4 night stay on Zanzibar Island….
Optional beach break: Optional free time to stay on Zanzibar Island from day 17, you can fly out from Zanzibar or take the ferry back to Dar es Salaam the day after the tour ends

Talk to us as to the special arrangements we can make for your accommodation staying in beach cottages and the traditional capital, ancient Stone Town and other requirements on the Island including transfers and spice tours.

Other options to budget for include snorkelling and scuba diving on Zanzibar’s untouched coral reefs, a visit to Prison Island famous for its giant tortoise population and to Jozani Forest to see the red colobus monkeys.

All accommodation and transfers with a spice tours on Zanzibar Island can be arranged ahead of time.

On request we can book you a single tent. Otherwise, you will be sharing a room with somone else from the same sexe if you are a single traveler.

You can use USD and your Bank card should be accepted in most supermarkets, lodges and bars

Should I book pre/post tour accommodation?

We recommend you arrive the night before. We can book an extra night in the lodge from where the tour starts.
