Nairobi is Africa’s 4th largest city and is a vibrant and exciting place and although it has developed a reputation which keeps tourist visits brief there are some fascinating attractions: its café culture, unbridled nightlife, the National Museum, the Karen Blixen Museum and most notably just 20 minutes from the city centre wild lions and buffalo roam in the world’s only urban game reserve.

Many of our group tours and private safaris start in Nairobi. We would recommend to arrive a day earlier to acclimatize and enjoy some of the amazing attractions this town has to offer.

Best time to travel to Nairobi

The dry seasons in Kenya are January and February and then July to October. This is regarded as the best time to travel and is the main tourist season as the weather is so favourable. If you are not opposed to the rain, travelling between March and June, and October to December is ideal to avoid the crowds.
