Explore the magnificent Victoria Falls, the ever-green Caprivi strip, the Okavango Delta (the biggest in-land delta in the world) and the sublime game parks – Chobe National Park, Khwai Community Area – of Botswana with your own 4×4 rental vehicle. 

Accommodation
This self drive is based on camping, but is also available as a self drive, visit the self drive itinerary for further information.

Car rental
Driving in Botswana game parks requires a 4×4. These vehicles have a higher ground clearance and are more suitable for difficult terrain.

Optional activities
Optional activities can be pre-booked on request. Most o them can be booked locally. Examples are:

  • Victoria Falls day visit
  • Mokoro excursions in the Okavango delta
  • Flight over the Okavango delta
  • Boat Safari on the Chobe River

  • This is a tailor-made tour. Extra nights, upgrades, route changes are all possible on request

Itinerary

Day 1, 2Victoria Falls

Welcome to Zimbabwe!

On arrival you will be met by our representative. You will receive the 4×4 and can then drive to the campsite in the village. Drive to Vic Falls Safari lodge for the evening to enjoy the view while enjoying a drink. The lodge also has an excellent restaurant.

The next two days you have time to visit the Victoria Falls, take a river cruise on the Zambezi or go rafting. Plenty to do without getting bored!

We can book activities in advance on request.

Day 3, 4Chobe National Park

Continue your trip and cross the border into Botswana. Keep in mind that you are not allowed to import fresh products into the country. However, in Kasane you have excellent supermarkets where you can do your shopping for the coming days.

Explore Chobe in your own rental car, test your 4×4 skills in the deep sand, or book a safari through the lodge. A boat cruise on the Chobe River is a must, with a bit of luck you will see the elephants swimming!

Day 5, 6 Caprivi Strip - Kwando River

Time for a new country! Cross the border and spend the next few days exploring the nearby less touristy parks like Mudumu National Park, Bwabwata NP and Nkasa Rupara NP

Day 7Mahango Game Reserve

Continue on the Caprivi strip towards Mahango Game Reserve. Various cultural excursions, as well as boat trips, can also be booked through the lodge.

Day 8, 9Guma Lagoon - Okavango Panhandle

Time again to cross the border to Botswana. Here you explore the deepest part of the Okavango Delta.
You can also visit Tsodilo Hills.

Day 10Maun

Continue to Maun where you can take an afternoon scenic flight over the delta. Also do some shopping for the coming days.

Day 11, 12, 13Khwai Community Area or Moremi Game Reserve

Continue to Khwai (on request and subject to availability we can replace Khwai with Moremi Game Reserve) where you can take endless game drives for the next few days. The site is just outside the park, but wildlife is everywhere.

Day 14Maun - End of Itinerary

Time to go home. Depending on your flight, you will travel to Maun during the day.
On request we can book an extra night in Maun, schedule a Moremi, Nxai Pan or Kalahari extension.
