Welcome in South Africa!

Upon arrival in Johannesburg your transfer to the guesthouse will be waiting for you and will take you to your guesthouse for a first night in South Africa.

After breakfast you will be taken back to the airport where you will collect your rental vehicle. This is where your self drive adventure begins!

Travel towards Sabie. Visit the highlights of the famous Panorama route. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings and nature around you.

Towards the end of the day you find your way to your accommodation for the night.

Optioneel: vlieg naar Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport en start de reis vanuit daar! Vliegtickets niet inbegrepen.

Day 3, 4Kruger Park

Time to go and explore Kruger Park in your own vehicle! It is easy to drive in the park, the roads are great. There are various picnic spots and restaurants available for a lunch stop. Make sure you pack your passport, this is needed for entrance identification. In summer months it is a good idea to cisit the park early in the morning, it can get very hot in kruger and animals are mostly more active in cooler weather.

Er is de optie om te kiezen voor een wat kleinschaligere optie voor safari in een prive reservaat;

Alternatieve1: Baluleni Safari Lodge

This lodge is sitauted in the Greater Kruger Park, in the adjoining Balule Private Nature Reserve (there are no fences between the reserves). Your stay here includes all meals, 4 game drives in Balule Game Reserve and 1 full day guided visit to Kruger National Park in een open safari vehicle.

Alternatieve2: Baobab Ridge

This luxury lodge is situated in the Greater Kruger Park, in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve (no fences between the reserves). Your stay includes 2 game drives per day, all meals and local drinks.

Day 5Swaziland/eSwatini

Today you will cross the border into Swaziland. The lodge is very helpful when it comes to booking local activities. You will experience that the Swazi people are extremely friendly, the atmosphere here is quite different to South Africa, even though it is so close.

Candle factories, craft markets, nature reserves, bicycle rides and hiking trails, there are plenty of things to do here!

Day 6, 7St. Lucia

Drive back to South Africa and travel to Kwazulu Natal, the the lush and green place called St Lucia. Early risers could opt to spend a day in the Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park. It is a big 5 game reserve and it houses many animals. The surroundings are very different to Kruger Park, but roads are also good here and very suitable for self drives.

St. Lucia itself is well known for its inalnd lagoon, which is home to may crocs and hippos. On on of the days here we will book you onn a lagoon crsuise so you can experience this at leisure. A day trip to the nearby Isimangaliso Park is an absolute must!, the beach is one of SA’s most beuaitful ones!

Day 8Umhlanga

Travel south along the coast towards the beach town Umhlanga. This is a great place to swim in the Indian Ocean, plus it is close to the airport, from which you will fly towards your next destination the next day.

Day 9, 10Addo Elephant Park

A 20-minute drive brings you to Durban Airport. Hand in your rental vehicle (with a full tank) and take an in-land flight to Port-Elizabeth. Collect your rental car and drive towards Addo National Park.

Addo Elephant Park is another game reserve very suitable for self drives. The lodge also offers guided game drives in en open safari vehicle. We gladly assist in pre-booking this. The lodge is situated outside the Addo Elephant Park, it’s about a 15-minute drive to get there.

Day 11Storms River

Storms River Mouth is a unique place along the coast. Enjoy the dramatic scenery, hike along one of the many trails, do a canoe trip into the river mouth or do a bungy jump of one of the highest bridges in Africa! at the Bloukrans Bridge!

Day 12, 13Knysna

Travel to Knysna. Visit the Knysna heads of make a cruise on the lagoon and the ocean, we can arrange this for you. For the active people there are plenty of activities to choose from; canoe trips, surfing lessons in Plettenberg bay, mountain biking ot try out a SUP board! On the second day we will book a whale/eco cruise for you, which will (with a bit of luck) show you whales, dolphins and seals!

Day 14, 15Oudtshoorn

Your next destination is the town of Oudtshoorn, famous for its ostrich farms. A visit to a farm is highly recommended. The nearby Cango Caves are also absolutely worth a visit.

Accommodation for this stay is a ‘glamping’ experience. You sleep under canvas, but that is kind of where the camping part ends. The safari tents are equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including air-conditioning for the warmer nights. Meals can be cooked by yourself, but can also be pre-booked if you prefer

Day 16Montagu

Travel along the amazing Route 62 to your next overnight place Montagu, a pretty, quiet and peaceful town well known for its amazing wines and surroundings. Stop in Barrydale at Diesel and Creme for the best milkshake in South Africa and have a look at some of the farm stalls along the road for one of the local delicacies.

Day 17Stellenbosch

It’s time to enjoy some of the best wines in South Africa! Let us assist in booking you a wine tour or a picnic on one of the many wine estates in the area. Exploring the various farms at your own pace in your own vehicle is of course also an option. There is plenty of choice in terms of restaurants in town for a lovely meal.

Day 18, 19, 20Cape Town

Spend the next few days at leisure in magnificent Cape Town!

Visit Table Mountain, Robben Island and Cape Point. But there are many other less-known attractions that are absolutely worth a visit ! Cycle through a township, enjoy an authentic meal or paraglide down Signal Hill! A visit to Robben island def8nitely needs to be pre-booked in order to avoid disappointment.

Day 21End of Itinerary

Unfortunately your trip is coming to an end today. Find your way to Cape Town airport, where you hand in your vehicle, in time for your flight back home. This is the end of an unforgettable trip which will have created memories to last you a lifetime!
