African Travels takes the view that your accommodations are just as important as the safari itself. That is why we make sure that the accommodation we book for you is of excellent standard. Virtually all accommodations are built according to the same principle, in a central location, with a partly open restaurant surrounded by a varying number of guest rooms sleeping two or more people. Each room has its own bathroom facilities. What they all share in common is the incomparable, unique safari atmosphere. The rooms are decorated with natural materials and colours, with romantic mosquito nets draped over large beds with soft and comfortable duvets and lovely crisp linens. Imagine watching the sun set over the breathtaking landscape, or chatting by the fire al fresco, under the stars. These memories will last you a lifetime. At night, you will sleep like a baby, and if you don’t, you can listen to the orchestra of the wilderness. Can you hear the elephants, the lions or the hyenas? Dinner and breakfast offer a wide choice of African and western dishes, usually served as a buffet. More and more accommodations feature swimming pools.
Today you will arrive in Tanzania! Our representative will pick you up from the airport and will bring you to your hotel.
Today your safari starts! Your driver guide will pick you up after breakfast. Drive to Tarangire while you enjoy Tanzania’s rural country side. Then it’s time to enjoy your first game drive. Tarangire National Park is famous for its big herds of elephants and big baobab trees.
The next couple of days is all about the Great Migration to view the spectacular herds of the annual Great Migration, enjoy a scenic hot air balloon ride over the plains and take a guided tour with the local Maasai and learn about culture and traditions. Other commonly spotted species include: leopard, lion, cheetah, caracal, serval, African wildcat, and a variety of prolific birdlife.
We will spend three nights (two full days) in Serengeti National Park. Serengeti National Park gets its name from the Maasai word. Siringitu meaning endless Plain. The game drives in this park are exceptional and game viewing incredible. This park offers the best opportunity of viewing Cheetah, Leopards and Lions and when lucky the annual Great Migration!
Today you will drive to Karatu. In the morning there is still time to explore the Serengeti a bit on your way out towards the crater area.
In the morning we will drive to the crater. Ngorongoro is a unique crater known as a Caldera. A Caldera is the aftereffect of a volcanic collapse, an implosion rather than explosion, Ngorongoro was formed some two million years ago. The Crater itself measures an average of 18 Kilometers in diameter and approximately 700 meter vertical drop and is home to 25000 large animals. The crater is one of the prime areas to observe the endangered Black rhino and black manned Lions.
Time to go home. We will drop you off at the airport of Kilimanjaro.
A Zanzibar extension or upgrade to 4* or 5* available on request.
