Mudumu National Park

Situated in the Caprivi Strip in northeastern Namibia, bordered by the Kwando River to the west, Mudumu National Park shelters diverse wildlife, including elephant, buffalo, zebra, antelope, crocodile, hippo and much more. The landscape is characterised by vast flat plains, tranquil lagoons and riverine woodlands.

The park’s varied habitat is ideal for birds with over 400 species inhabiting the area. Anglers can enjoy excellent fishing in the river, which is home to a variety of species including the sought after with tiger fish. Popular activities include: game viewing, birdwatching and camping in remote locations for the quintessential wild African experience. Other Commonly spotted wildlife include: impala, red lechwe, giraffe, otter, lion, hyena, and leopard.

Best time to visit Mudumu National Park

Best time to spot lots of animals is from June till October. October is very hot but probably the best month. Because it’s dry, animals tend to hang around the water holes. The bush is also less thick, which makes it easier to find them. During the wet summer months (November-April), water can be found everywhere and the bush is a lot denser, which makes it more difficult to find animals.

Wildlife

Mudumu National Park in the Zambezi Region has a good variety of animals. The most common animals are elephants and buffalo. Other wildlife that can be spotted are the giraffe, zebra, hippo and crocodile. Lion and wild dogs are spotted occasionally through the park.
