While the world’s longest river (6650km) has sources in Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Burundi the out flow of Lake Victoria has always been accredited as being the source of the Nile. In 1858 while travelling with Burton, John Speke “discovered” Lake Victoria and guessed it to be the source of the Nile. This was confirmed when Henry Stanley circumnavigated the Lake and came across the Ripon Falls where the great river begins.
You can visit Jinja all year round but the most pleasant will be during the dry seasons from December to late February and from June to September. The country straddles the equator so there are no true seasons, although March to May an October to November are wetter.
