Lake Natron

Lake Natron is fed by mineral-rich hot springs and is shallow, less than three meters deep. High levels of evaporation leave loads of salt and minerals behind and the temperature can reach 50 degrees Celsius. All of which makes it a perfect breeding ground for the endangered Lesser Flamingo.

Best time to travel to Lake Natron

The best time to visit Lake Natron is from June to October during the cool, dry months. Visiting just after the rains (November and March to May) will be a nice scenery because of the lush green grasses.

Wildlife

Flocks of flamingos, other birds and tilapia fish all call the lake their home.
