Kafue National Park is the oldest national park of Zambia and it covers a surface of about 22.400 km2. The park offers a massive diversity of natural landscapes and eco-systems.
If you are going to Kafue National Park, you have to visit the huge open plains called Busanga. It’s in the north western part of the park. The southern park dense forests can be found mostly in the south of Kafue. Wherever the Lunga, Lufupa and Kufue River are flowing, the area’s are very green.
Busanga Plains
At plains of Busanga, you will find thousands of red lechwe’s, a special antelope. The puku, sable and roan antelope on the other hand can be found in the bush area’s. The biggest predators in the park are lion, leopard and cheetah. Because of the rivers many types of birds can be found! Over 400 registrated types of birds can be seen in Kafue.
