LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

Lake Manyara is a unique park due to it's rainforest and salt lake combination. However, the animal density is not as high as the other surrounding parks.

Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara is one of those national parks that offer rich and diverse game viewing within a reasonably small area. From its thick ground water forest at the park entrance to its more arid acacia woodland in the south. 

With the Lake on its east and the Manyara Escarpment to its west the Lake Manyara National Park offers breathtaking views and a large variety of habitats. Acacia woodlands, water forests, baobab strewn cliffs, algae-streaked hot springs, swamps and the lake itself. And thanks to this the small Park is able to support a large number of animal species and incredible bird life. Manyara has the largest concentration of baboons anywhere in the world and the lions here are also renowned for their tree climbing.

Best time to travel to Lake Manyara

Wildlife spotting in Lake Manyara National Park is good all year, but it is best during the dry season between late June and October. Between November and May, the park is probably the prettiest, as the vegetation is thick and green due to the rain falls.

Animals found in the area include zebra, elephant, hippo, monkey, wildebeest, waterbuck, warthog, gazelle, impala, buffalo, waterbuck, warthog, hyena, baboon and giraffe.
