Skeleton Coast

Known by the Bushmen as the “land God made in anger” the Skeleton Coast is remoteness at its best. Thousands of miles of sandy desert dotted with shipwrecks meet with the cold waters on the Atlantic and somehow an amazing array of wildlife and flora manages to survive in this harsh but beautiful environment.

However, the Namibian coast is renowned for the fog and if there is a lot of mist on the day you are driving along the coast, you cannot see anything. 

Best time to visit the Skeleton Coast

The Namibian Skeleton Coast can be visited throughout the year, but the ideal time is during the warmer months from October to March with less chances on fog and mist.

Wildlife

Even though the desert surroundings are harsh, there are quite a few animals here, amongst which desert-adapted elephants, rhinos, desert lions, brown hyenas, jackals, giraffes, seals, oryx, kudus and zebras.
