Planning a self drive holiday in Botswana? Here is some advice on how to book the campsites…
Of course we can book and reserve all campsites for you. We will add a small additional fee for the bank costs, reservations and etc but in the end it will safe you a lot of hassles, we promise. But of course you are also more than welcome to just book the 4×4 through African Travels (including a satelite phone for Botswana) and plan the whole trip yourself! It can be tricky to book public campsites in Botswana’s national parks and reserves. Some campsites are run by private operators, some by the Botswana Department of Wildlife and National Parks (DWNP), and some parks have a combination of both so that a single visit requires some juggling between the two to get the bookings you want.
If you want to be assured of a spot – most of the time there are only 6 campsites and the next camspites is about 2 hrs drive away, not ideal as you are not allowed to travel in the dark in Botswana, expecially not on dirt roads – please book your campsites via us. Then you can fully relax and enjoy your self drive, not to worry about availability. Trust us, once you are there you are happy you pre booked and have a backup office to contact in case of an emergency.
