The focus of a National Geographic film entitled ‘Africa’s Lost Eden’, the Gorongosa National Park – with its cobalt-blue lagoons, wide open savannah and forested mountains studded with waterfalls – is indeed an earthly paradise, tucked beneath the towering peak of Mount Gorongosa. The park is a popular ecotourism destination and is a conservation success story featuring community engaged environmentalism at its best. Activities offered by the park include game drives, guided game treks, waterfall hikes, sundowner excursions and birding safaris.
The Gorongosa National Park closes from December to March. May and June are humid and warm, and October and November are hot and showery, so the best time to visit is in the dry season from July to September.
You have the opportunity to spot lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, various species of antelope, zebra and occasionally wild dog and hyena.
Palm trees line the tropical beaches. Crystal clear water, snorkeling and scuba diving, fresh seafood. A holiday in Mozambique includes these and so much more.
